Meet The Team: Elaine Hainsworth

Keeping fit & healthy has been a a part of my lifestyle from an early age.

I emigrated with my parents to Victoria from Oxford, UK at the age of 12 as a 10 pound pom!!

My parents built a house on 15 acres just outside Ballarat. This is where my love of horses began. My sister & I joined a pony club & competed in gymkhanas, dressage, show jumping & cross country. I joined my first gym at the age of 18 & have managed to maintain some form of regular fitness up to date. Back in the 80’s I attended many a step reebok class!!

I have a 25year old son & 23year old daughter who both took part in many sports in their school years. As a family we were members of Mullaloo surf club for 10 years where I was involved in a variety of voluntary activities. I obtained my Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) & joined in on beach patrols. I attempted my Surf bronze certificate with my daughter but unfortunately broke several bones in my foot during training & that was the end of my surf rescue career.

When my children left home I found myself with plenty of spare time so I took up triathlons. I joined a Triathlon club & enjoyed the training & competing.

I discovered that the cycling leg was my favourite discipline & now focus on cycling & the occasional run to keep fit. I alternate my cycling between a Time Trial bike, road bike & mountain bike. The mountain bike allows you to get out into some off-road riding which I love. We have some fabulous mountain bike paths up in the hills. I am fortunate to live near the coast & manage to ride along our fabulous coastline several times a week.

I discovered another passion last year, motorcycles!! After much persistence & several lessons I managed to pass my motorcycle test this year. I have a Yamaha 650 Cruiser & head out on my bike most Sundays for a spin & breakfast with a gang!!

There is a vibrant live music scene in Perth & I spend many of my weekends with friends listening to local bands. I constantly have music playing at home & I still play my old vinyls. As I child I played trumpet & my father played trombone. We would practice at home together which drove my mother mad!! This is where my love of music began. I recently picked up a guitar & am about to learn to play, watch this space!!!!

I joined the NextMove team back in 2013 where I thoroughly enjoy my role as Administration manager. I feel very lucky to work with such a positive energetic team & enjoy my Monday to Friday hours. I frequently slip in a Pilates Reformer Class before I start my shift.
