A Review and a Plan**By Matt
I recently sat down with Jeff Newman — the iconic TV presenter and former Channel 7 weather man — just to jog your memory. Jeff is also a Nextmove patient, and throughout 2025 I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy many conversations with him.
Jeff is an extraordinary human. His insights, his ability to deliver a message, his advice, and his stories are remarkable. One of the best ways to sum him up is this: Jeff might just be Perth’s most connected man, and to this day he works tirelessly at staying connected with people.
During a recent tour of our Hillarys location, Jeff sparked a question in me that’s been sitting there ever since:
What happens after 2025?And perhaps more importantly…When does Nextmove reach its true limit?
The Short Answer: We Can Do More
After long reflection, my answer is simple.
I genuinely believe we have the capability to do so much more for our community.
So this blog is my way of sharing what’s next — the services we’re planning, the people joining us, and the direction Nextmove is heading in as we move into 2026.
Performance, Longevity & the Unspoken
Women’s Health is right at the top of our agenda for 2026.
Longevity, strength training, speed-based exercise, and high-intensity training for women who are perimenopausal and menopausal are areas we are deeply committed to developing further.
Often, it’s hard to know what questions to ask — or we’re simply flooded with information. One of my key objectives for 2026 is to create better systems, more time, and more space for meaningful conversations around women’s health, performance, and long-term wellbeing.
This is an area where education, support, and individualised care truly matter.
More New Faces as Our Team Grows
As you know, we already offer a wide selection of Pilates and exercise classes — but we’re committed to expanding both depth and expertise.
In 2026, Mel Wilks will be joining our teaching program alongside Ella, Tracy, Sarah, Brooke, Karen, Georgia, and Isaac.
Mel is a Senior Physiotherapist and will step into a leadership role for Women’s Health, working closely and collaboratively with Tracy, who currently manages our Pilates and Exercise Class Program. Mel will support Tracy in this role and will also provide:
Specialised 1-on-1 care
Client education
Team education
We’re incredibly excited about the impact this will have.
We’re also welcoming Isaac Franklin, a mature new graduate physiotherapist under the mentorship of Kyan Jones. Isaac joins our physio team alongside Matt, Kyan, Sarah, Greg, Tracy, and Mel — greatly increasing appointment availability and expertise at our Hillarys location.
A new physiotherapy timetable and areas of expertise will be available soon, and we’re thrilled to share our new 2026 team photo as our Nextmove family continues to grow.
Strength Will Become Your Friend
Strength training isn’t a phase — it’s a foundation.
Our Fit & Strong classes are hugely popular, and in 2026 we’ll be offering even more. Based on your feedback and our commitment to a holistic longevity model, we’re also launching a brand-new cardio class with yes some new bits of cool equipment to enthuse.
Ella is very excited about this one — and we think you will be too.
Our goal is simple: to make strength familiar, safe, empowering, and sustainable for life.
The Youth Space
Youth development is another major focus for 2026.
We’re launching:
Speed Mechanics & Agility training
An expanded Athlete Development Program
From February, Isaac will lead a new Youth Class twice weekly. This program isn’t just about sport — it’s about:
Confidence
Movement patterns
Flexibility
Control and coordination
Matt will also be leading a new Speed Class twice weekly from February.
Youth programs can be purchased in blocks of 5 or 10 sessions, making them flexible and accessible.
More Options, Better Value, Smarter Spaces
We’re also making practical improvements across the board:
“Top-up” class bundles so members can add extra sessions each week
Bulk physiotherapy appointment bundles to reduce the cost of return visits
Within the studio, we’re creating:
A new preparation area and hydration station
An expanded upper-limb weight station
More lifting options, including hand-held weights for Pilates and upgrades in our gym arena.
Despite these upgrades, we’ve chosen to hold our membership prices steady in 2026, keeping them lower than local competitors. While we can’t adjust cancellation or freeze fees due to this pricing structure, we’ll always aim to means-test where appropriate.
Physiotherapy fees will now reflect different levels of experience:
Lead Physio rates
Senior Physio rates
Standard Physio rates
Some performance coaching services may also offer additional health rebate benefits.
Please note: from March 2026, Lead Physios Matt and Sarah will only be bookable via reception or phone (9307 1244).
Beyond Nextmove HQ
We’re incredibly proud to share that in 2026, Nextmove will be delivering running education programs in schools. This will involve some staff roster changes and the addition of new team members — another exciting step forward.
A key pillar of our future is technology, feedback, and education. Without giving too much away, we’ll be launching:
New events
Educational workshops
Specialised testing options
All designed to take Nextmove into its next chapter — deeper, smarter, and more connected than ever.
Thank You
Thank you for being part of our community.Thank you for trusting us with your health, movement, and performance.
The best of Nextmove is still ahead.
